The simple truth is........abnegation of the law

FIRST:/   We are given a glimpse into what literally-[spiritually] happened there that day given the details regarding two fundamental areas of our Salvation ~ propitiation and abnegation of the law.
ONE:/  abnegation of the law

A./   Several things were nailed to the cross of Jesus Christ on the day that He suffered and died for us and our Salvation.......

1./   our old man = our old sin nature
2./ sin
3./ iniquity
4./ the body of this flesh [in which sin resides] NOTE: and, had it not been so, the sin which resides within this body of the flesh would not have been abnegated and enfeoffed.

then,
5./   the law

Colossians 2:13-15;

13 And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;

14 Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;

15 And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in
it.

   a./   This being and amounting to how Jesus took this [  the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us ] "out of the way" !

   b./   In this figure is seen the method and the means whereby also, sin and the body of the flesh were likewise purged of sin [in all the ultimate senses]. So that,

   c./   We observe several things that were nailed to the cross of Jesus Christ on the day that He suffered and died for us and our Salvation....... way" !

 Thus,
B./    We observe how that these figures [while being figures] have very real, significant and powerful, realistic effects and/or spiritual realities accompanying them; which spiritual realities reach through to and effect the natural realities common to mankind !

1./   In this case entire dispensations are effected !

    a./  The entire dispensation of the law closes and comes to it's end in and with Jesus Christ !
    b./  Bringing in the dispensation of God's grace ! Under and in which, the law, has no power over God's people i.e. as it does and did in the Old Testiment !

2./   Now, compare this with the first figures of Romans 6:6; and Col. 2:11-12; in which the old man/old sin nature + it's body are utterly purged by the supernatural powers of and Almighty Godhead in the figures of Jesus Christ and the cross ! Such that,

    a./  Just as these were "changed" so also was the dispensation.
